Old School Bmx Mongoose Frameset Frame Fork Vintage 1980’s Chromoly

Old School Bmx Mongoose California Special or Motomag Frame with the original Mongoose fork. (the Fork is Stamped TANGE MADE IN JAPAN on the steerer tube.
Front triangle main frame is Chromoly.
I was told this is a California Special or a Motomag you be the judge.
Original chrome; Chrome has some rust in the tight spots like the gussets.
Dropouts are in great shape. No dents or dings and no repairs.
The toptube does have a spot where the chrome is about to peel (see last pic for discrepancy).
Threads are good on Fork.
Could use an OA bath for the rust in the gussets and a good polish. Frameset does have marks and scratches. (see pics)
Serial number is clean and starts K2*****. Serial number is located on the bottom of the open box section underneath which means the frame is made in USA November 1982.
